Richard Prentice is an established studio potter and ceramic artist based in Pembrokeshire on the west coast of Wales. Richard’s work is inspired by the coastal setting of his studio and is structured into three clear collections - Globes, a repetition of the same form with stunning glazing and firing techniques used to create beautiful repeating forms - Under the Sea, a body of work that examines the impact of climate change on coastal erosion and rising sea levels, highlighting the relationship between humanity and the natural world; and A Study of Coal, ironically a fossil fuel that has impacted on the latter collection, this work studies the remnants and influence of the mining industry and the demand for some of the best coal found in the world that was mined in Pembrokeshire.
